Read More	Buried Sept 26,2009 Lot 506 Space- 2 Allen Benson Phillips May 19,1916-Sept 22,2009 Allen Benson Phillips, 93, of North Platte, NE, died Sept 22, 2009, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte. Allen was born May 19, 1916, at Grand Island, NE, to Edwin Newell and Dessa Belle Cass Phillips. He grew up in Nebraska and graduated from North Platte High School in 1934. Allen went on to College in Cincinnati, OH, and graduated from there in 1936. He then returned to North Platte and did carpentry and masonry work before going to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a fireman in 1940. Allen retired in 1983 as an engineer and became a full-time grandfather. He built five homes and laid his last brick at the age of 80. Allen married Mildred Luella Weekly on May 19, 1940, at North Platte, where they made their home. In 1979 they built a home on Jeffrey Lake and moved south of Brady, NE. In 1990 they returned to North Platte. Allen and Mildred loved each other and lived together for over 68 years. They enjoyed traveling after retirement and visited every state in the continental USA. They were enthusiastic gardeners throughout their married life. Allen was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, now known as the Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene, for over 74 years. One of Allen’s joys was taking his Sunday School classes out camping and fishing. Allen used his construction talents to help construct the Nazarene Church and the parsonage on West 5th Street. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in January of this year; son Jack; his parents; sister Edwinna Cowley; and brothers Roland, Wendell and Donald Phillips.
