Allen died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at his home in Bristol. Allen Edward Kaaz was born on June 7, 1946 in Watertown, SD to Edwin and Meta (Zantow) Kaaz. He grew up and attended school in Leola, SD, graduating from Leola High School in 1965. Following graduation, Allen joined the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam. Allen finished his service at Ft. Lewis and lived in the Tacoma, WA area. He then moved to rural Eatonville, WA and worked at a paper manufacturing company. When the plant closed, Allen worked for a tree farm and landscaping company until retiring in 2008. In April of 2011, Allen moved back to South Dakota and bought a home in Bristol. Allen loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was even able to fish in the ocean when he lived in Washington. Allen took pride landscaping and gardening his homes over the years. He spent much of his time reading and working on the 1959 Studebaker Lark that he restored. Grateful for having shared Allen’s life are his mother and stepfather: Meta (Pius) Vetter; four siblings: Shirley Albrecht, Ron (Carla) Kaaz, Norma (Jim) Miller and Myra (Elmo) Feiock; seven nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and great-nephews.
