Born June 14, 1916, in Ferris, Ill., he was the son of French I. and Nancy Viola Friend Bideaux. In 1935, he married Geneva"Jean"Maisden. In 1947, he married Marie Geils. She died Oct. 20, 1991. On July 3, 1992, he married Stella Ware in Donnellson. She died Nov. 6, 2008. Mr. Bideaux retired after 20 years as postmaster in Argyle. He worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, as a guard at Iowa State Penitentiary and at other jobs. He served in the 744th Railroad Battalion in France and Belgium during World War II. He was a member of Embury United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and Donnellson American Legion. He was a 50-year member of George Washington Masonic Lodge AF&AM 618, VFW Post 3508 in Keokuk, and past member of Donnellson Lions Club and Moose Lodge in Burlington. Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Bynum of Muscatine and Mary Schroubroeck of Harrison, Ark.; three sons, James Bideaux of Seoul, Korea, Larry Geils of Branson, Mo., and Richard Bideaux of Hampton, Ill.; one stepson, Glen"Bud"Ware of Farmington; three stepdaughters, Donna Meinhardt of Donnellson, Glenda Townsend of Farmington and Lois White of Wever; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by two daughters, two stepdaughters, one step great-great-grandchild, his parents, three brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home&Crematory in Donnellson where family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Bideaux will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Embury United Methodist Church in rural Donnellson with the Rev. Karen Young officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials have been established for Embury United Methodist Church, George Washington Masonic Lodge AF&AM 618, and Donnellson Library.
