Description	:	Son of George and Margaret Jones Thorman. He attended District #17 country school and was a 1949 Wisner High School graduate. On August 1, 1954, he married Fern Mohr at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. Allen served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957, stationed at Fort Ord, California and Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. The couple moved to West Point where Allen managed the I.G.A. grocery store for twenty years. From 1977 until 1980, he owned and operated the Wooden Rail clothing store, specializing in jeans. The couple moved to West Point where Allen managed the I.G.A. grocery store for twenty years. From 1977 until 1980, he owned and operated the Wooden Rail clothing store, specializing in jeans. In 1980 he became co-owner of the Flower and Gift Gallery in West Point and from 1982 until 1993 he co-owned Swans Apparel in Wayne. Allen retired from the flower shop in 2002 and began working at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point and in Dodge until his health would no longer permit. Allen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point where he served on the Church Council, taught Sunday school, and ushered. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, he served as president for the West Point Chamber of Commerce and for the Junior Chamber, and was a long time member of Lions Club. Allen enjoyed dancing, playing cards, spending time at the lake cabin, and his grandchildren. He had a strong work ethic and will be remembered for his helping hand. Survivors include his wife, Fern, of West Point, sons Randy (Sue) of Omaha and Brad (Kim) of Oakville, Ontario, Canada, sisters Audrey (Calvin) Dorau of Fremont and Neola Freese of Papillion, grandchildren Amanda, Tony, Charlie, Willy and Audrey Thorman. He is preceded in death by his parents.
