Description	:	Mr. Allen Middleton was born March 15, 1855, at Brighton, Washington County, Iowa. At the age of six he lost within about three weeks of time, his mother, two sisters and one brother. In about one year after the death of his mother his father was married to Miss Kate Mintun. The new family went west during the time of the building of the Union Pacific railroad, going as far as Cheyenne, Wyo. Read More	Mr. Allen Middleton was born March 15, 1855, at Brighton, Washington County, Iowa. At the age of six he lost within about three weeks of time, his mother, two sisters and one brother. In about one year after the death of his mother his father was married to Miss Kate Mintun. The new family went west during the time of the building of the Union Pacific railroad, going as far as Cheyenne, Wyo. Soon after this they returned to Ia., locating in Harrison County about three and one half miles from Modale, at which place he lived until manhood. He attended the common schools, also the High School at Missouri Valley, and later took a commercial course at Keokuk, Iowa. He was married to Miss Mary Alice Morton of this county, on Feb. 9, 1882. At this time he was Deputy Sheriff of Harrison County, residing at Logan. From Logan he moved to Chicago, Ill, where he was engaged in the Live Stock Commission business. At the end of the first year of his residency in Chicago, he lost his wife, she dying Nov. 4, 1885. To this union had been born one daughter, Ada Ezelle, Oct. 22, 1885, who died Nov. 22, 1885, being just one month of age. After the death of his wife he remained in Chicago for 20 years, at the end of which time he moved to Omaha, forming a partnership with his brother Wiley, in the same business. He remained here for four and one half years. In May of the present year he went to Payette, Idaho, where they had purchased fruit orchards at which place he spent the summer. In Sept. he was taken seriously ill. Oct. 24, his brother Wiley received a message urging him to come immediately to his bed side. He found him suffering from an abscess on the left lung. In spite of medical aid or any assistance that could be offered he passed away Nov. 6, 1911, at the age of 56 years, 7 months and 22 days. He leaves an aged father and mother, six brothers and two sisters. Wiley of Omaha; Ira, George, James, and Mrs. Carrie Beebee of Modale; William of Iowa Falls; John of Hysham, Mont; and Mrs. Hattie Meade of Collins, Iowa. Mr. Middleton was a man of untiring energy and of sterling worth, who was always ready to aid the needy not only with sympathy but financially as well. He was a Mason being a member in Chicago, in the Mizpah Lodge No. 768; Delta Chapter No. 191; Temple Council No. 65; and Englewood Commandery No. 59. The funeral services were held at his fathers home in Modale, Iowa, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Harvey Travis, Pastor of the M.E. Church in Modale. Interment was made in the Magnolia cemetery, where he was laid to rest by the side of his young wife and infant daughter. Missouri Valley Times: Thurs., 16 Nov 1911, pg. 5
