He was born on June 20, 1924 in Monterey to Lester E. and Eunice Lunsford Veatch. He married Verla J. Voorhies on August 25, 1947 in Lancaster, MO. He had lived in Davis County most of his life. Read More	Allen Oscar Veatch, age 73, of 300 E. River St., Riverside, former resident of Davis County, died March 3, 1998 at 11:55 PM at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He was born on June 20, 1924 in Monterey to Lester E. and Eunice Lunsford Veatch. He married Verla J. Voorhies on August 25, 1947 in Lancaster, MO. He had lived in Davis County most of his life. He had lived in Schuyler County, MO and Ainsworth before moving to Riverside. He had farmed and was a carpenter. He had also been a caretaker for several cemeteries in Davis County and surrounding townships. He was affiliated with the Church of Christ. Farming was his first and greatest love. He loved his cattle and spoke of them often. He was also an accomplished carpenter. One of the big barns that he and his father built in 1947 is still standing tall in Monterey. He also took pride in the mowing and upkeep of various cemeteries. His family and loved ones were always very dear to him. He loved them each very much. His hobbies were building garden tractors and repairing motor bikes, gardening, flowers, miniature farm buildings, windmills and porch swings. He is survived by two daughters, Karen K. Lorence and husband Jim of Coralville and Wanda R. Cunningham and husband Pastor Donald J. of Ankeny, seven grandchildren, Troy Lorence, Travis and Trent Lorence, Crista Young, Darla Gossen, Lisa and Sara Cunningham and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Matthew and Jerrica Gossen, Logan and Isaac Lorence; three brothers, Gene Veatch of Savannah, Willis and Joe Dean Veatch both of Mark, and one sister, Joyce Elliott of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Bobby Gene Veatch an infant sister; Ina Louise and a special friend, Maxine Jenkins. Contributor: Richard Veatch (49263806)
