Description	:	Allen Rumsey Boyce, 98, of Council Grove passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Diversicare of Council Grove. He was born December 24, 1914 in Council Grove to T.A. and Elsie Kendle Rumsey. After his mother died, Allen was adopted by Joe and Minnie Boyce. When he was twelve they moved to southeastern Colorado. Later the family returned to a farm near Council Grove where Allen lived the rest of his life. Allen enjoyed raising cattle and farming, especially with his son Bill. Also he worked at Beechcraft in Delavan in the mid-1950’s. He was a member of the Council Grove school board. Allen liked to attend various farm auctions in the Council Grove area . Allen married Ruby Birt. Ruby died October 25, 1996. He married Thelma Rowley on December 5, 1998. She survives. He is also survived by daughter, Betty Allen, of Wichita, Kansas, son, Larry (Ann) Boyce of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law Ella May Boyce, Council Grove, and two step-daughters, Betty Rowley Hanson and Karen (Bill) Rowley Devlin, both of Topeka. Eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive. Allen is also survived by his half-brother, Tom (Charlotte) Rumsey, of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, and his son Bill Boyce (August 5, 2009.) In addition, his sisters Blanche Rumsey Johnson, Ethel Rumsey Hylton, and brothers, Lester, Lauren, and Ellis Rumsey are deceased. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Sunny Slope Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00am.
