Description	:	HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Mrs. Allene Lawton Wyman "Linky" Stone died Oct. 16. She was born in Estill and attended Kings College and Traphagen School of Fashion in New York. She married Eugene Earle Stone III of Greenville in 1932 and was an invaluable help to him in the establishment of Stone Manufacturing Co., during the Depression years. She was active in community affairs, including Cedar Mountain, N.C., Greenville and Hilton Head Island. Because of her many contributions and efforts in the Greenville area, the city named a downtown park in her honor, "Linky Stone Park". She was a member... Read More	HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Mrs. Allene Lawton Wyman "Linky" Stone died Oct. 16. She was born in Estill and attended Kings College and Traphagen School of Fashion in New York. She married Eugene Earle Stone III of Greenville in 1932 and was an invaluable help to him in the establishment of Stone Manufacturing Co., during the Depression years. She was active in community affairs, including Cedar Mountain, N.C., Greenville and Hilton Head Island. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and Faith Memorial Chapel in Cedar Mountain. She was a member of the National League of American Penwomen Inc., a charter member of the Greenville Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Greenville's Woman's Club, Soroptomist International, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, the National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor, the McKissick Book Club and the French Huguenot Society of South Carolina. She also belong to Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the South and Southeast. Her past associations include the Greenville Art Association, Junior League of Greenville Inc., Greenville Chamber of Commerce-Women's Division, Greenville County Art Museum Commission, Greenville Little Theater, Greenville Community Concert Association, the University of South Carolina Society and the American Hearing Society. She was chairman of Youth Services Center for Greenville County Schools and also a member of the Fashion Group, Color Association U.S., and the Bell Ringers Association of America. Survivors: two sons, Charles Rivers Stone and Eugene Earle Stone IV, both of Greenville; two daughters, Mary Wyman Stone Fraser of Hilton Head Island and Rosalie Legare Stone Morris of Savannah; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
