MAGRATH.-Impressive funeral services were held in the L.D.S. First Ward church Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Allie Rogers Jensen, wife of Christian Jensen, Alberta Wheat Pool director and president of the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers’ Association. In Memoriam programs of the service were distributed at the door by Mrs. Jill Harker and Mrs. Margaret Ririe of the Shakespeare Class of which deceased was a member. Banks of flowers from widely scattered places bore tributes of love and respect. Assisting as flower bearers were her grandchildren Lavina, Ruth and Karl Keeler, Dawn, Ross, Marian and Diana Robinson, Joan, Sylvia and Lasca Jensen, Barbara, Ronald, Rogers, David and Paul Ririe, and ladies of the Relief Society. Letters and telegrams of sympathy have been received from many across Canada. Pallbearers were members of the family, and only son L. R. Jensen, and D. H. Keeler, Horace Ririe, Lloyd Ririe, Rondo H. Robinson and L. Ray Harker. The service was simple and beautiful. Bishop M. Elmer Ririe presided. Christensen Mortuary were in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Vinessa T. Hamilton played the organ prelude and postlude and was accompanist. The choir directed by J. Orson Bridge sang “Guide Me to Thee”, and, “I Know that My Redeemer Lives”, with Hall Poulson, soloist. Reece Gibb sang “I’m A Pilgrim”, accompanied by Grace Peterson; C. R. Walker, Cardston sang “Going Home”, accompanied by Verona Merkley; a male quartette G. Woolley, G. Crookston, H. Fletcher and J. H. Bridge, sang “Leading Me Home”, Elder H. S. Allen. Raymond, offered the invocation and Elder A. M. Merkley the benediction. Mrs. V. Helton played a trumpet solo, “O My Father”, at the graveside, and Elder George Gurney offered the dedicatory prayer. Interment was in the family plot in Magrath cemetery. Speakers at the service were Mrs. Myrtle N. Passey, president of Taylor Stake Relief Society; President Edward J. Wood of Cardston; Bishop Elmer Ririe. Mrs. Passey spoke feelingly of the love of Relief Society women for the deceased who had been her associate and which body she represented at the service. She gave a brief sketch of Mrs. Jensen’s life highlighted with tributes of praise for her noble character, her exemplary life, her faithful service during her life, and her pride in achievements of those she loved. She was born Allie Zitella Rogers, September 13, 1871, at Draper, Utah, the daughter of Dr. Ruel Mills Rogers and Diannah Donaghe. When a young lady through high school she attended Brigham Young University and graduated with honors in the first class of kindergarten normal teachers ever to graduate from that institution. She went to Redmond, Utah, to teach school and there she met Christian Jensen and they were later married April 25, 1894, at Manti Temple, Utah. They quietly observed their Golden Wedding anniversary April 25, 1944, a week prior to her passing. Some two weeks previous the family gathered quietly to observe the anniversary around their mother’s bedside and two nieces, Mrs. (Dr.) Guy Richards of American Fork and Mrs. Charles Robins of Orem, Utah, were present. Three days after her wedding her young husband left for a three years’ mission to Samoa. She taught school at Redmond while he was away and when he returned they began housekeeping. In addition to teaching she was president of the Ward Childrens’ Primary Association and also an executive in the Sevier Stake Primary Board of the church for her outstanding primary organization. In 1903 the family came to Canada. Mr.and Mrs. Jensen and daughter Afton (Mrs. D. H. Keeler). The rest of the family were born here. Cleo (Mrs. Lloye Ririe), Allie (Mrs. R. H. Robinson). Lollivee R. and Beatrice (Mrs. L. Ray Harker). They have made their home in Magrath continuously at first living on the farm in the summers., later in town exclusively. Their home was one of gracious hospitality and friendliness to all. On Mrs. Jensen’s arrival in Canada she was called to work in the Young Ladies’ Mutual Improvement Association and became a member of the Taylor Stake Board. She loved young people and was always ready and willing to help them. In those horse and buggy days she travelled about the stake visiting the wards, giving encouragement. She resigned from her position in 1914 after ten years service. She became president of the Ward Relief Society, and later, in July, 1933, until August, 1938, she was president of the Taylor Stake Relief Society. Here her talents were given full play and she served faithfully and well until her resignation in 1938 when she was succeeded by Mrs. Joyce R. Harker, later by Mrs. Passey. Mrs. Jensen also served on Magrath School board as a trustee when the present high school building was erected and cast the deciding vote in favor of building the present structure. She was a director in the local U.F.W.A. and a staunch supporter of the farm movement for better conditions on the farms for women. President E. J. Wood of Alberta Temple spoke in tribute and also of her husband whom he first met in the Samoan Islands when they both labored there as missionaries. Their friendship has endured through the years, he said. Bishop Elmer Ririe spoke comfortingly of Mrs. Jensen’s kind disposition and her abiding testimony of the Gospel of Christ, of love for others and her devotion to the Christian life. Attending the service from out of town were many prominent persons, among them: Lew Hutchinson and Ben Plumer of the Board of Directors of Alberta Wheat Pool, Calgary; L. Anderson, Wheat Pool Superintendent of elevators of Lethbridge district; Leonard McKenzie, field service man of Pool Elevators for south Alberta, and Mr. Nelson of Coaldale, elevator superintendent of south-eastern Alberta; Norman F. Priestly, manager of United Farmers’ Co-operative, Calgary; N. T. Macleod, Lethbridge, former secretary of Canadian Co-operative Woolgrowers and W. Benson, present secretary; David H.
