Kasper, 84, Beulah, died peacefully following a brief illness and went to Heaven to join Jesus, husband Otto, daughter Patty and grandson Frank and her many family members who have preceded her on Nov. 21, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Monday, Nov. 26, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will be in Beulah City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., before the service on Monday at the church Alma A. Kasper was born March 26, 1923, south of Beulah, the daughter of John and Lydia (Miller) Schmidt. She grew up south of Beulah and south of Hazen until 1935, when the family moved to Beulah. She attended Beulah School grades 5 through 8, at which time she left school to take care of her ailing mother. Alma worked at various places until May 28, 1942, when she married Otto Kasper who was in the U.S. Army. She joined Otto at Minneapolis after his basic training until April 1943, when Otto was shipped to the South Pacific until May 1944. After Otto's tour of duty in the South Pacific, they moved to Neosho, Mo., where Otto was assigned to Camp Crowder until December 1945 when he was discharged from the Army, and they moved back to Beulah. Alma worked with Otto during his days as the manager of the Beulah Farmers Union Oil Company, serving as head bookkeeper for many years with him. She spent many hours working to balance the co-op's books, finding the last penny many times late at night at the kitchen table. But she always found that penny. During this time she also earned her high school diploma, which she was very proud of. She is survived by her sons, Jim and Sandy Kasper, Fargo, and Don and Kandy Kasper, Bismarck; five grandchildren, Dawn Marie Goetz, Mesa, Ariz., Jim and Karen Kasper, Woodbury, Minn., Jeff Kasper and Devin Kasper, both of Fargo, and Terry Goetz; one sister, Katie and Marvin Leer, Stanton; her sisters-in-law, Renata Graham, Elgin, and Doris Schmidt, Rockford, Ill.; her son-in law, Gaylan Schwartz, Elko, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Kasper; one daughter, Patty Schwartz; an infant grandson, Frank M. Kasper; her parents, John and Lydia Schmidt; one sister, Louise Becker; three brothers, Ace, Aaron and Melvin Schmidt; one brother-in-law, Henry Becker; one sister-in-law, Della Schmidt; and three infant brothers.
