Read More	Stratford Courier January 18, 1951 Obituary Mrs. Harry Carlson Alma Fern Kildoo Carlson, daughter of George and Susan Kildoo, was born Sept. 27, 1899, at Kahoka, Mo., and passed from this life on Jan. 8, 1951 at the age of 51 years, 3 months and 11 days. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her three brothers, namely: Clarence Edward, George Preston and Floyd Kildoo. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Harry Carlson, and three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Collins of Prescott, Arizona, Mrs. Hazel Wilson, of Revere, Mo., and Mrs. Marie Adams of King City, Mo., besides other relatives and a host of friends. She received her schooling at Kahoka, Mo., later taking nurses training and graduating at Ensworth hospital in St. Joseph, Mo., in 1921. She followed the profession of nursing for eleven years. She was married to Harry E. Carlson on July 3, 1932, at Kansas City, Mo. After coming to Stratford she joined the Lutheran church of which she was a member at the time of her death. Her health had been poor for the last several months, but prior to this she was active in church work and was president of the Women's Missionary society for several years. She was a good neighbor and was always ready and willing to assist whenever needed. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Stratford Lutheran church, with the Rev. F.W. Hanson officiating. He used for his theme, "Death." Songs were sang for the services by Mrs. Arthur Larson and Mrs. E.J. Johnson, with Miss Myrtle Olson accompanist. The songs were: "Children of the Heavenly Father," "I'm But A Stranger Here," "Heaven Is My Home," and "Abide With Me." At the close of the services the remains were escorted to the South Marion cemetery for burial. The flowers were in charge of Miss Hannah Nelson and Mrs. Axel Sandegren. The pallbearers were Gust Berglund, Earl Swedlund, Reuben Erickson, Garnet Silvey, J.A. Simonson and John Knuth. In Memory of Fern We say it is the end For death has claimed our friend. But no, it is not so, For 'twas God's hand that bade And she's transition made To a land beyond the vale. Her step was so serene, This life - what could it mean? To God above give love And to her fellow man Extend a helping hand. It was her Lord's command. We must not be undone With grieving such a one.
