Description	:	Alma “Jean” Milliken, 86 years of age, of Omaha, NE (formerly of Holdrege), passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. Jean was born January 31, 1933 in Pelican Rapids, MN, the youngest of seven children born to Alvin L. and Ella Mae (Hinkle) Porter. Jean was born January 31, 1933 in Pelican Rapids, MN, the youngest of seven children born to Alvin L. and Ella Mae (Hinkle) Porter. She received her education from Trenton, NE, graduating from Trenton High School with the class of 1951. She then pursued higher education at Kearney State College in Kearney, NE. On August 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to Marlyn Randall “Moe” Milliken at Trenton, and to this union three sons were born: Larry, Steven and Scott. The couple made their home in Holdrege, where Jean focused her efforts supporting the needs of her family, and devoted her time to her three boys when they were young. Jean also served clients as a sales representative with Salad Master for many years. After Moe’s retirement from Becton-Dickinson, the couple moved to Omaha to be closer to their family. On June 22, 2014, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Moe.Jean was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, where she served on numerous committees and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also very active in her community. Many friendship bonds were formed through the years as a member of P.E.O. Chapter HM, and as a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer.Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and traveling. Many treasured memories were made with family at their cabin at Johnson Lake and while spending winters at their condo in Arizona.Besides her parents and husband, Moe, she was preceded in death by her four sisters: Wilma in infancy; Helen Kemp and her husband Dale; Stella Trimpey and her husband Ernest; and Myrl Ellis and her husband James; one brother, Marvin Porter and his wife Eileen; and sister-in-law Delores Porter . Jean leaves to celebrate her life; her three sons: Larry Milliken and his wife, Rosemary of Scottsdale, AZ; Steven Milliken of Omaha; and Scott Milliken of Omaha; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Porter of South Sioux City, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
