Description	:	Alma Josephine Glau was born at Charter Oak, Iowa, November 9, 1921, the daughter of Emil Harry and Sarah Nora Olson Larson. She was raised in Charter Oak where she received her education graduating from high school with the class of 1939. Following high school she attended Cosmetology School in Sioux City and after graduation was employed at Edna's Beauty Shop in Charter Oak. On December 1, 1944, Alma was united in marriage with Robert Edson Glau in Sioux City, Iowa. She was raised in Charter Oak where she received her education graduating from high school with the class of 1939. Following high school she attended Cosmetology School in Sioux City and after graduation was employed at Edna's Beauty Shop in Charter Oak. On December 1, 1944, Alma was united in marriage with Robert Edson Glau in Sioux City, Iowa. They made their home in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for one year while Robert completed his military service. After Bob's discharge they returned to Charter Oak where they were blessed with two children, Mary and Tom. With the exception of clerking for a few years at the Moore Brothers Grocery Store, after their children were in college, Alma was a fulltime homemaker lovingly caring for her family. While residing in Charter Oak, Alma was an active member of the United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer and she enjoyed her membership in the Order of Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron. In 1984, Bob and Alma moved to Denison, Iowa, where they have since resided. After moving to Denison, Alma became an active member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women Society. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and her membership in bridge clubs. Alma was happiest when serving others, especially cooking and baking for her family. Alma died Friday, November 9, 2012, her 91st birthday, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa. Including her parents, Emil and Sarah Larson, Alma was also preceded in death by her seven siblings: Rex, Esther, Ruth, Alice and Vernon Larson, Edna Lee and Bernice Hennings. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of over 67 years, Robert Glau of Denison, Iowa; daughter Mary and husband Dr. Morris Kuhlmann of Denison, Iowa; son Tom and wife Judy Glau of Iowa City, Iowa; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Denison, Iowa, with the Rev. Alberta Ervin officiating. Music for the service included three congregational hymns "What a Friend We Have In Jesus", "Here I Am Lord" and "He Touched Me" with Nancy Miles serving as organist. Pallbearers were Alma's four grandsons, Christopher Kuhlmann, Bradley Kuhlmann, Scott Glau and Jeffrey Glau. Interment was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, Denison, Iowa. Following the interment the family invited everyone to return to the church and join them for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the United Methodist Women. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
