Description	:	Kathryn "Kit" Zirbel, 94, of Clear Lake died Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Oakwood Care Center surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Clear Lake Christian Church, 302 HWY 18 West, Clear Lake with Pastor Scott Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Lake Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Wednesday. Read More	Kathryn "Kit" Zirbel, 94, of Clear Lake died Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Oakwood Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Clear Lake Christian Church. Kathryn Zirbel, daughter of Chauncey and Alice Eyestone Merwin was born November 15, 1918 in Bryan, Texas. When Kit was a child, the family lived in Texas before moving to Des Moines in 1931. In 1933, the family moved to Clear Lake where she graduated from high school in 1937. Kit was united in marriage to Stanley Zirbel in Clear Lake on July 13, 1943. Following their marriage, the family resided on a farm south of Fertile where they lived for over 60 years. She was a homemaker all of her life, took care of her children, helped Stan on the farm, delivered milk for the Fertile Coop and worked for the Iowa State D.H.I.A. Kit loved to socialize with people and her family. She enjoyed listening to music and sewing. She was a devoted member of the Clear Lake Christian Church for many years. She will be missed by her daughters, Janice (Fred) Hare, Fertile, IA, Karen (Jim) Weld, Clarion, IA, Amy (Keith) Van Note, Minneapolis, MN, Jill Murray, Burnsville, MN, , and Eileen Zirbel, Rochester, MN; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Hill, Mason City, Sara Lyon, Memphis, TN, Carol Mae Wilson, Jackson, TN, Pauline "Honey" Merwin, Newburg, IN and her brothers, James Merwin, Clear Lake and Paul "Bud" Merwin, McKenzie, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; infant daughter, Ian Marie; granddaughter, Merry Weld Dick; son-in-law, John David Murray along with three brothers and five sisters.
