REECE DAVIS Alma May Davis, eldest daughter of Isaac and Dora Etter, was born on a farm near Russell, Iowa June 12, 1891 and passed away at the home of her son Kenneth Davis in Chariton, October 12, 1947, at the age of 56 years and four months. On January 19, 1916 she was united in marriage to John Reece Davis. To this union six children were born. When a young girl she united with the Bethel church. For 24 years, with her husband and children, she lived in Pleasant township. She was an ardent lover of flowers and always had a beautiful flower garden. She was a faithful wife and a devoted mother and was always ready to help her neighbors and friends. She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Arlene Buckalew and Cleo Holmes of Chariton and three sons, Kenneth of Chariton, Homer and Clyde of Russell, her mother and four brothers, one sister, three grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends. One daughter died in infancy. Final rites were held Wednesday, October 15, at 3:15 p.m. at the Beardsley Funeral Home. The Rev. Virgil Swanson and Rev. A. E. Beals officiated. Burial was made in the Bethel Cemetery.
