Description	:	Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Alma Vivian Hossack (Tweed) left us in her sleep at the Tri-Lake Health Centre to rest in eternal peace, the afternoon of July 28, 2018, one month and one day short of her 90th birthday. Alma was born August 29, 1928, one of four sons and three daughters, to William Clarence and Vona Tweed (Staples), and raised on their farm near Holmfield, Manitoba. She attended a one-room country school in Enterprise, where she and her siblings walked three miles each direction, following the railroad tracks so as not to get lost in winter. On the worst days, her father would hitch up their horse and buggy to drive them. Mother finished high school in Holmfield. She always dreamed of becoming a nurse – her greatest gift was in her power to nurture - but unfortunately this was not to be. After WW II, she met Clarence William (Bill) Hossack who had served overseas as a Signalman, and they married on December 27, 1948. Together they operated Lakeside Service and Motel on what was part of the original 1881 Hossack family homestead on the north shore of the bay extension of Killarney Lake. After 31 years of operating this family business, they retired to enjoy travelling to warm southern destinations. At home, they enjoyed sipping martinis in the sun on the deck of the family home, on the north side of Park Street, across from their former business. In 2008 the home was sold and they moved across the street to the west, to Royal Manor, with the same view of the bay that they had always enjoyed. Mother was predeceased by husband Bill on May 3, 2014, following almost 65 years of marriage. Mother was a very quiet and shy person, but possessed a great depth and intelligence, as the saying goes, “Still Waters Run Deep”. She loved to read and had a great interest in medical books, as well as listening to music from “The Great Band Era”. She loved to play cribbage, and could count the cards faster than anyone, even in her last years. Mother’s memory will remain in the hearts of her children: Margo Campbell, Kerry (Betty Ann), Maureen Barrett (life friend Doug Orr), six Grandchildren: Darren Hossack (Tammy, and Great Grandchildren, Shayla, Tianna, Rylan and Kayden); Travis Campbell, Amber Campbell (Wayne Blanchette), and Jeff Campbell; Kenzie Prudomme (Jayson, and Great Grandchildren, Kianne, Corey, Jordan, and Matthew) and Craig Hossack (Miranda). She is also survived and remembered with love by her sister, Eunice Freeman, and brothers Fred Tweed (Hugette), Arnold Tweed (Glenyce), and Willard Tweed (Betty Hicks). She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Edith Towns, and brother, George Tweed. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Mother will always be remembered for her kind and nurturing ways, and especially her beauty, to the end looking much younger than her years.
