Description	:	January 14, 1909 - Pocahontas County Sun - Alma Williams eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams, of Swan Lake township, was born in Boone County, Iowa, July 18, 1883 and passed to rest January 7, 1909 having reached the age of 25 years, 5 months, and 19 days. She was sick but a few days and the news of her death was the first announcement that many of her friends had of her illness. Read More	January 14, 1909 - Pocahontas County Sun - Alma Williams eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams, of Swan Lake township, was born in Boone County, Iowa, July 18, 1883 and passed to rest January 7, 1909 having reached the age of 25 years, 5 months, and 19 days. She was sick but a few days and the news of her death was the first announcement that many of her friends had of her illness. The family moved to this locality about 16 years ago and have been identified with its history ever since. About five years ago Miss Alma decided to enter the profession of teaching and since that time until this year her services have been constantly in demand, as she demonstrated to the entire satisfaction of all concerned that she was in a congenial element. With experience and responsibility came also a vision of greater possibilities of accomplishment, to be achieved as a result of better equipment. True to this vision she decided to sacrifice one year of valuable time and in September last she entered the State Normal at Cedar Falls, determined to secure a state certificate which would give her a standing with the best in her profession. Returning home to spend the Christmas holidays, she was taken suddenly ill and after a few brief days of excruciating pain surrendered to the opposing forces of nature and has gone to her "Rest". What heart yearnings, what day dreams, what lofty ambitions she renounced when facing the inexhorable fate which she at last reluctantly recognized as hers, we can only conjecture by the work she had done and appeared to have in view. She was of amiable disposition and will be held in kindly rememberance by many to whom she had endeared herself. She leaves a father, mother and two sisters: Miss Myrtle and Miss Iva, besides a host of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral was conducted from the Christian Church Sunday at 2:30 P.M. In delivering the funeral sermon Rev. Brock spoke from these words: "And their works do follow them." While not a church member she was evidently a believer.
