Description	:	Cannon Courier newspaper, 14 December 1951 Alment Gilley, 10 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Palford Gilley of the Hollow Springs community of the 13th district of this county was accidentally killed last Friday night when his eight-year-old brother Randall shot him with a .22 automatic rifle. According to reports the two boys had been hunting and had returned to the home where Alment took out the rifle magazine. Read More	Cannon Courier newspaper, 14 December 1951 Alment Gilley, 10 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Palford Gilley of the Hollow Springs community of the 13th district of this county was accidentally killed last Friday night when his eight-year-old brother Randall shot him with a .22 automatic rifle. According to reports the two boys had been hunting and had returned to the home where Alment took out the rifle magazine. He inadvertently left a cartridge in the firing chamber of the gun, reports state. After he handed the rifle to Randall and started walking toward the house the gun was accidentally discharged and the bullet lodged in the boy's spine, killing him instantly. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Gilley Hill Methodist Church, the Rev. Wilson in charge. Burial was in the Gilley Hill cemetery. In addition to his parents the youth is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Jean Gilley Reed, Joyce Gilley and Vivian Gilley; and three brothers, Randall, Bobby and Max Gilley; all at home.
