Etna, Iowa in Adams County. She passed away Tuesday, October 17, 1961 at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 16 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Holste, after a lingering illness. Read More	Adams County Free Press October 26, 1961 Page 5 ALMIRA A. TOWNSLEY Almira Ann Thompson Townsley, daughter of Francis and Martha Thompson, was born February 7, 1874 near Mt. Etna, Iowa in Adams County. She passed away Tuesday, October 17, 1961 at the age of 87 years, 8 months, and 16 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Holste, after a lingering illness. In September of 1895 she was united in marriage to William W. Townsley in Adams county. They lived in Montgomery county the earlier years of their marriage, moving from there to Minnesota and then to La Mour, North Dakota, where her husband preceded her in death in 1910 at Berlin. To this union six children were born, all of whom survived: Mrs. Herbert Holste (Belva) of Massena; James O. Townsley of Champaign, Illinois; Mrs. Floyd Clinton (Ethel) of El Monte, California; Mrs. Vern Hall (Emma) of Adair; Francis R. Townsley of Farmington, Michigan; William W. Townsley of Houston, Texas. There were ten brothers and sisters who preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. Winifred Kissler of Bridgewater, survives. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and friends. In later years she was baptized in the Evangelical and Reformed church. Gram, as she was lovingly known to her many relatives and friends, was devoted to her family and home. She worked many years in homes where there was sickness after which she mad her home with her daughter, Belva Holste, where she became an important part of their lives. Funeral services were held October 30 at 3 p.m. from the Evangelical and Reformed church in Victoria township, Cass county, Iowa. Music was by Mrs. Wallace Holste and Don Steinbeck. Pallbearers were five grandsons and one great grandson, Merlin Holste, Bernard Townsley, Robert Townsley, Richard Townsley, Robert Townsley, and Terry Holste. Two grandsons, Gary Townsley and W. M. Townsley, Jr., preceded their grandmother in death. Interment was in Victoria township cemetery. Attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. James Townsley of Champaign, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Townsley of Waukegan, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Townsley, Robert and Doris of Farmington, Michigan, Robert and Richard Townsley of Champaign, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. William Townsley and Georgia of Houston, Texas, A3/c Terry L. Holste of Amarillo A.F.B., Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Killman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Carlson and family of Council Bluffs.
