Description	:	Despite his newspaper obituary notice which said he was born on January 1st, 1833, all the census records showed his birthyear as 1841 (when his age was subtracted from whatever census year and one of these census records which had a column for the birthdate, it showed his birthdate as January 1841. I found that the person who submitted the information about Almond Hartley to file a death certificate was his eldest daughter Cerissa Viola (Hartley) McNerney (who was also known as "Mary" or "Viola" or "Aunt Sis"). She must have confused her father's birthdate with that of the husband of her paternal aunt. This uncle by marriage named Hiram Clark was born in Jackson County, Ohio, on January 1st, 1833. Hiram Clark was married to Almond Hartley's sister Dorcas. Almond L. Hartley was born in Jackson County, Ohio, in January of 1841 to Philip Hartley Jr. and his wife, Susan (Cottrell) Hartley. Almond met and married Mary Judson (born in Crawford County, PA, in either February or March of 1842; eldest daughter and 2nd child of Daniel and Caroline [Medlem] Judson)in Ottumwa, Wapello County, Iowa on January 29, 1863. Almond and Mary Hartley had 3 sons and 3 daughters. Almond Hartley lived a long life, dying in 1932 at the age of 91 years. His wife Mary died shortly after falling off the wagon on August 24, 1919, at the age of 77 years. Their obituaries showed their burials at Myrick Cemetery in Chillicothe, Wapello County, Iowa, but there are no gravestones there for them. I know they are both buried there other than those newspaper obituaries and Mary's Johnson Funeral Home record: my great-grandmother was presented at her grandfather Almond's funeral and although she could not make it to her grandmother's, she knew that her grandmother was buried at Myrick. She could not attend this one because she had about given birth to her daughter five days later after her grandmother's death. She was the one who told me this and she also lived a long life like her grandfather (she died when she was 99 years old).
