Funeral Services for Al Kochuyt were held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 13, 1998, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Richard Okumu officiated and the organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Casket-Bearers were Eddie Iezek, Mark Iezek, James Kochuyt, Dan Kochuyt, Larry Kochuyt, and Rodney Schafbuch. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Alois John Kochuyt, son of Edward Kochuyt and Julie Van Vooran Kochuyt, was born January 26, 1915, at Sheffield, Illinois. He received his education in rural schools and St. John's Catholic School in Victor. He worked as a hired farmhand in the Victor area and worked at Crow Plumbing and Heating before starting farming near Montezuma in 1949. Later he farmed near Guernsey, Chelsea and Malcom. He retired in 1977 and moved into Brooklyn. On September 3, 1943, Alois married Marie Margaret Landuyt in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn. She died November 24, 1972. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Brooklyn. Al was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Francis; one daughter, Joyce; four brothers, Albert, Francis, Camiel and Joseph; one sister Alice Marie; and one grandson, Michael Iezek. Survivors included two daughters, JoAnn Iezek and her husband, Harold of Malcom, and Delores Kochuyt of Des Moines; one sister, Alice Williamson of Hartwick; one brother, Charlie of Brooklyn; five grandchildren, Eddie, Mark, and Deanna Iezek and James Kochuyt; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Hayley, and Paige Iezek.
