Read More	The Hartington Herald Hartington, Nebraska Thursday, June 30, 1927 ALOIS WEBER IS CALLED TO REST Former Well Known Citizen Of Cedar County Passes Away At Home In Oklahoma Alois Weber, one of the oldest Pioneers of Cedar county and a former resident of Fordyce and St. Helena, passed away at his home at Perry, Okla., last Tuesday and was buried from the Menominee Catholic church Saturday morning. Coming to this country from Westphalia, Germany in 1871 in company with Herman Loecker of Fordyce and the late Henry Hesse, he settled at St. Helena where he lived for years. Alois Weber was born in Westphalia, Kirchhunden, Germany in 1850. One year after his arrival in this country his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franz Weber, and the remainder of the family immigrated to this country and joined him at St. Helena. In 1894, the father of Alois Weber was lost in the Missouri swamp and his bones were found several weeks later, after the family and neighbors had made a vain attempt for weeks to find the man. In 1883 Alois Weber was united in marriage to Frances Schoff at St. Helena and went to housekeeping on a farm near Menominee. Later he and his family moved to Aten where he farmed one and one half miles east of that place and he had spent about 15 years in Oklahoma, where he passed away from diabetes and complications. He was a resident of Crofton and Fordyce for several years and is well known through out the country. The late Alois Weber was a fine Christian man and put forth every effort possible to assist in the progress and upbuilding of the community in which he lived. He suffered patiently for years with diabetes. The late Mr. Weber is survived by his wife of Parry, Okla., and eight children. They are: Alois and Fred of Aten, John and Joe pf Perry, Okla., Mrs. Steiver of Oklahoma, Sister M. Otille (Blunde) of Chicago, Marie Weber of Wausa, and Mrs. Leaonard (Helen) Mogren of Sioux City. He is also survived by three brothers, Fred, of Nebraska City, Will, of Omaha and Casper of Bowden, N.D. and two sisters, Mrs. B. Joesten (Dina) and Mrs. Mary Guinan of San Francisco, Calif. The funeral of the late Alois Weber was a very large one and all of the children and the three brothers were present at the service. Contributor: sandyK (48118705)
