Description	:	Alonzo was the son of Nathaniel Carter and Betsey Brown Carter. He married Bertha Atwood of Sandwich (b. 1875) in Meridith on June 14, 1896. (NH marriage record). At the 1900 census, he and Bertha lived in Sandwich with their one year old daughter, Grace, born Feb. 1899, and Alonzo's 19 year old brother, Wilber (William). In 1910, Alonzo worked on the farm of the Quimby family in Sandwich. Sadly, Bertha had entered the Carroll County farm and suffered from epilepsy for 25 years. Bertha Carter was buried in the Baptist Cemetery in Sandwich. Alonzo and Bertha's daughter Grace continued to live in Sandwich where she was a boarder in the farm home of the large Mudget family, perhaps caring for their 6 young children (1920 census). Alonzo lived at the Carroll Co. Farm for 14 years, entering about the time of Bertha's death. He died at age 65 of heart disease. (NH death record)
