Aged 65 years, 2 months and 3 days. ~~~~~~~ Lon Cooper died at his home in Shelbyville Monday, at the age of 65 years. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ben Gwynn, near Shelbyville, and one son, Roy, of Shelbyville. Mr. Cooper was prominent man in Shelbyville, having spent his entire life there, with the exception of a few years spent on a farm. At the time of his death he was vice president of the Citizens' bank there. Funeral services will be held this afternoon. Alonzo Cooper, one of the best and highly respected citizens of Shelbyville, died at his home last Monday afternoon after a prolonged illness of kidney trouble. He was born in Shelbyville, July 4, 1850, and was aged 65 years 2 months and 2 days when death came. Mr. Cooper had lived in Shelbyville and on a farm west of that city all his life and when the end came he was Vice-President of the Citizens Bank of Shelbyville. On October 22, 1876, Mr. Cooper was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Perry and to this union were born two children, Mrs. B.F. Gwynn and Roy Cooper, who, with Mrs. Cooper survive him. Deceased was known by the junior editor of this paper ever since we were a small boy and in his death we, like hundreds of others, know they have lost a good, kind and true friend. Mr. Cooper was an earnest worker in the Christian church and by his demise Shelbyville and Shelby county loses one of its best citizens. The funeral was held at the Shelbyville Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. R.E. Alexander, assisted by Revs. Cleaver and Wood of this city. Burial in the I.O.O.F.
