Roling, 74, of 9358 Royal Wood, Peosta, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Epworth, where military rites will be accorded by the Epworth American Legion John White Post 650. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Roling, 74, of 9358 Royal Wood, Peosta, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Epworth, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Epworth, where military rites will be accorded by the Epworth American Legion John White Post 650. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Reiff Funeral Home, Epworth, is in charge of arrangements. He was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Bellevue, son of Joseph and Helen (Stiechen) Roling. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's School in Bellevue. He married Leona Pfab, his wife of 50 years, on April 15, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fillmore. Al was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works and drove a school bus for the Western Dubuque School District for 35 years. He also farmed all his life. Al loved to work the land and enjoyed working on his machinery. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an Army veteran, a member of the Bellevue Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Epworth. Surviving are his wife, Leona Roling, of Peosta; five children, Randy (Linda) Roling, of Bernard, Janice Roling and Judith Roling, both of Austin, Texas, Jayne (Mike) Curtis, of Epworth, and Jolene Roling, of Peosta; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Jason, Ryan, Madeline, Justin, Jaydee and Jenna; a brother, Orville (Rosemary) Roling, of Bellevue; and two sisters, Isabelle Stillmunkes and Lucille (John) Merkes, both of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings, Art, Vincent, Raymond, Richard, Glen, Bernice, Estelle, Ida and Virginia.
