Alta Devore was born October 10, 1906 to John and Eliza Hunt in DeSoto and had lived in Adel most of her life. She married Don Devore on November 28, 1928 at Adel. She had been a school teacher with Van Meter Township and had co-owned and operated Don's Lunch with her husband. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Alta Devore was born October 10, 1906 to John and Eliza Hunt in DeSoto and had lived in Adel most of her life. She married Don Devore on November 28, 1928 at Adel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; and infant son, William; one brother, one sister, and three half-sisters. She is survived by two sons, Gene Devore of Urbandale and Jim Devore of Los Angeles, California; two sisters Alvoretta Berkemann of Perry and Ethel Dixon of Cave Junction, Oregon; eight grandchildre; and 13 great-grandchildren.
