Description	:	Obituary Alta Sumpter August 9, 1916 - January 9, 2010 Alta Sumpter, age 93, of Olney, formerly of Gymon, OK., passed away at 7:20 AM, on Saturday, January 9th, 2010 at Burgin Manor in Olney, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded and no local services are planned. Stasi-Grove Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Alta was born on August 9th, 1916, in Seiling, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edward Claude and Anna Marie(Spring) Barney. Alta was born on August 9th, 1916, in Seiling, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edward Claude and Anna Marie(Spring) Barney. She later married Thomas Jefferson Hussey, on February 22nd, 1932 in Woodward, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death. She later married Sam Sumpter who also preceded her in death. Alta was a housewife, a professional seamstress, an artist who enjoyed painting flowers and landscapes, spending time with her family, and working in the home. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her. She is survived by sons, Thomas Hussey, of Bellingham, WA., Charles Hussey, of Olney, IL., daughters, Charlotte Shay of Slidell, LA., Janice Porterfield, of Lafayette, IN., 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Hussey, and one son, James Hussey.
