Shaver, his sister and brother-in-law, Cammie and David McConnell, brother and sister-in-law, Luther B. and Betty J. Shaver, and brothers-in-law, Lonza Smith and Ralph Spangler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin B. and Annie V. Shaver, his sister and brother-in-law, Cammie and David McConnell, brother and sister-in-law, Luther B. and Betty J. Shaver, and brothers-in-law, Lonza Smith and Ralph Spangler. Mr. Shaver was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was born October 17, 1934 in Copper Hill, Floyd County, Va. He served in the U.S. Army and was formerly employed by Roanoke Ready-Mix and Mechanical Development Co. Inc. in Salem. He is survived by his wife, Betty S. Shaver; sons, Vincent L. Shaver of Hardy, Kirk A. Shaver of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer S. and Barry O. Altice of Rocky Mount; two very special granddaughters, Jaime L. Seaman and Amber N. Altice. He is also survived by sisters, Vera Smith of Roanoke, Elizabeth Wray of Arlington and Essie Spangler of Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Malicia Shaver of Copper Hill; brother and sister-in-law, William and Shirley Shaver of Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Jim Worline and Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554, Roanoke, VA 240113-0554, Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric Rd., SW, Suite A, Roanoke, VA 24018 or Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, 8838 Floyd Highway N, Copper Hill, VA 24079.
