Thursday July 15, 1982 ALVA CHARLES ASKIN ISMAY -- Life time resident Alva Charles Askin, 69, who was kind, generous and a friend to everyone, died Tuesday in Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City. He was born on the family homestead south of Ismay, the son of George and Cora Askin. He attended schools in Ismay and, after getting out of school, joined his brothers in the well drilling business. In 1942 he became a rural mail route carrier for 40 years. He also ranched five miles east of Ismay until he died. He married Helen Stickney in Baker in 1926. She died in 1976. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include a son, Kermit G. of Casper, Wyo.; a daughter Mrs. Howard (Norma) Traweek of Raymond, Alberta, Canada; two brothers, C.L. of Baker and Berdette G. of Ismay; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Esther) Cooper and Mrs. Edna Spangler, both of Salinas, Calif; five grandchildren and two great-children. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home of Miles City with the burial in Custer County Cemetery.
