Alva Keith —Alva Keith, age 93 of Clarence, Missouri and formerly of Knox County, Missouri passed away Tuesday morning (July 7, 1992) in the Clarence Nursing Home. —The son of George and Elizabeth Warrener Keith, he was born October 28, 1898 in Knox County. —He married Marie Cheline and she preceded him in death in 1972. —He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. —He is survived by one son, Jerome G. Keith of Indianapolis, Indiana; three daughters, Martha White of La Belle, Missouri, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Gonnerman of Kirksville, Missouri and Mrs. Ed (Charlotte) Fisher of Moberly, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren. —Mr. Keith was reared in Knox County and attended school at Novelty, Missouri. —During World War I, he served in the United States Army from October 16, 1917 to May 19, 1919 with the 14th and 17th Cavalry. Following his discharge, he was employed by the Pacific Railroad and later with the Santa Fe Railroad. Following his retirement from the Santa Fe Railroad he moved to Knox County where he was engaged in farming and later moved to Edina. For the past several years he has resided in Clarence, Missouri. He was a member of the Clarence Christian Church. He was also a member of the Clarence American Legion Post #309 and transferred to the Knox City American Legion Post #358 in 1979. He was one of the oldest members of the Knox City Legion Post #358 and also a life member. —Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday morning (July 10, 1992) in the Maple Wood Cemetery at Clarence, Missouri with Reverend William A. Knowles officiating. —Casket bearers will be members of the Knox City American Legion Post #358, and will also conduct the Military Graveside Rites. —Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening (July 9, 1992) in the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Chapel at Clarence, Missouri under the direction of Hudson-Rimer Funeral Homes Chapel Edina, Missouri.
