Description	:	LEAVENWORTH _ Alverda P. Bon, 89, a well-known Leavenworth resident and educator for the past 52 years, died Monday, May 31, 1993, in Central Washington Hospital. She was born July 21, 1903, to Richard and Rebecca (Fields) Hopkins at Oakdale, Neb. She received her elementary education in one-room rural schools and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1922. She received her teaching degree from Wayne Normal School in 1926, and taught school in Nebraska for seven years. She married Elmer Christiansen in 1930 in Nebraska. Mr. Christiansen died in 1931. Bon, 89, a well-known Leavenworth resident and educator for the past 52 years, died Monday, May 31, 1993, in Central Washington Hospital. She was born July 21, 1903, to Richard and Rebecca (Fields) Hopkins at Oakdale, Neb. She received her elementary education in one-room rural schools and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1922. She received her teaching degree from Wayne Normal School in 1926, and taught school in Nebraska for seven years. She married Elmer Christiansen in 1930 in Nebraska. Mr. Christiansen died in 1931. She married Wilbur F. Bon on April 22, 1935, at Stanton, Neb., where he farmed until they moved to Leavenworth in 1941. Mrs. Bon worked for the Leavenworth School District for 25 years, then taught private kindergarten for three years. She was the 1969 Royal Lady of the Autumn Leaves for the Washington State Autumn Leaf Festival, a member of the Leavenworth Community United Methodist church, served on the church board and was president of the Methodist Women's Society, was active in the hospital guild serving as secretary for seven years, and was a member of the library board and various bridge clubs. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Bon ]Akina of Honolulu, Hawaii; a grandson, Alan Akina of Kirkland; a granddaughter, Tracy Akina of Kirkland; two nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur in 1981, three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter. Arrangements are by Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth.
