Description	:	Alvin Clinton Ormsby, 87, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2001, at the Topeka Community Healthcare Center. He was born March 20, 1924, at Barclay, the son of Grover Cleveland and Martha Mahala Tyson Ormsby. He spent most of his life in the Osage City area. He served in the Army during WWII as a Paratrooper from 1943 to 1945 earning both the silver star and the Purple Heart. Read More	Alvin Clinton Ormsby, 87, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2001, at the Topeka Community Healthcare Center. He was born March 20, 1924, at Barclay, the son of Grover Cleveland and Martha Mahala Tyson Ormsby. He spent most of his life in the Osage City area. He served in the Army during WWII as a Paratrooper from 1943 to 1945 earning both the silver star and the Purple Heart. Alvin owned and operted Ormsby Plumbing and Heating and later Ormsby Tree Service in Osage City before he retired. He was a member of Robert Heizer Post No 198, of the American Legion in Osage City. He married Leota Gavin on September 7, 1945 in Emporia. She survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Donna Miller (Norm Rieger), Gove, Joan Staus, Ottawa, Nancy Peters (Ron) Lebo and Lois Gutierrez (John), Dumas, Texas; three sons, Bill Ormsby (Shirley, Olivet, Danny Ormsby, Osage City and Jerry Ormsby (Kathy), Osage City; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Boyce; a son, Jimmie Ormsby; three grandchildren, Lowell Boyce, Danny Padgett and Elizabeth McGrahann; and three brothers. Arrangements were provided by VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City, Kansas. Casket bearers were Tim Ormsby, Cortney Bartley, Ronnie Peters, Tony Parker, Kevin Boyce and Sam Ormsby. Honorary Casket Bearers were Drapper Ormsby, Cecil Parker, Shawn Ogle, Jerold Parker, Vernon Peters, Arthur Ormsby and John Hudson. Interment, with military honors, followed in the Arvonia Cemetery near Melvern Lake.
