Dickinson was born in Kankakee, Feb. 5, 1872, died in Tripoli, Iowa, March 12, 1905 at the age of 33 years, 1 month and 7 days. His early life was spent in the town of his birth. He attended school at Onarga, Grand Seminary and later Valpariso, Ind. where he received a liberal education. For four years he was in the employ of the Bradley Mfg. Co., as traveling expert. At the age of 27 he was united in Marriage to Matie A. Smith at Manteno, Ill. Nov. 24th, 1898. He moved with his family from Illinois to Tripoli, Iowa in the month of Feb. 1905. After a brief illness of pneumonia he passed from his home on earth to his home in heaven, Sabbath afternoon, March 12th, 1905. He gave his heart to Christ in his early life. At the age of 20 he united on confession of faith with the Methodist church. He became a very active member of the Epworth League. His life was a beautiful example of Christian manhoood. He possessed that Christ like spirit was ever manifest in his sincere and devoted life. He was a kind and sacrificing father to his children, a worthy husband dearly loved and deeply mourned by his sorrowing wife. He leaves a wife and two little girls, his father, mother and brother to mourn his loss. The funeral was held in the First Congregational Church, Tripoli, Iowa, Wednesday morning at 10:30, March 15th, 1905. The deceased was a Woodman and as an honor to a departed brother and for respect to his mourning family the Woodmen of Tripoli Camp attended the funeral in a body. Information supplied by Jeanette.
