Obituary from the Nodaway News leader, Sept 22, 2005. Alvin "Edman" Chaney, 96, Rogers, Ar., formerly of Maryville, died Sept 20, 2005, at his residence in Rogers. He was born Sept. 13 1909, in Skidmore, to Alvin and Louise Chaney. He graduated from Skidmore high School in 1929. On Feb. 20, 1930, he married Ruby Alice Devers in Maryville. She preceded him in death March 29, 1981. In November of 1981, he married Valora Betty Sparks. She survives of their home in Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Joseph Sparks. In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by two sons, Bill Chaney and wife, Judy, Des Moines, IA and Carl Chaney and wife Virginia, Valley, NE; one daughters, Linda Poteete and husband, Ken, Hot Springs, NC; 24 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Roy Sparks and wife, Paul, Altamont, Bill Sparks and wife, Sallie,Lewisville, TX, and Butch Parks, Rogers; step-daughter-in-law, Marilyn Sparks Denton, TX; sister, Pauline Capsey, Corning, IA; two nieces. Funeral Services were held Sept 24 at Price Funeral Home Chapel, Maryville, Mo. Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Skidmore, Mo.
