Read More	A SAD ACCIDENT The whole community was saddened on Saturday evening by the news that quickly spread abroad that two boys, the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Bennett, has drowned in the pond on Mr. Hatcher's place, southeast of the village. Alvin, the eldest was nearly twelve years old, and Fred the youngest, was past eight years. It seems that, by permission of their mother they went to play at a neighbors, but that later they went with other boys to the pond. While there, at a very muddy place, or a hole in the pond, Alvin's feet appeared to become fast in the mud, so that he was in danger. Fred started to his help, but the other boys got him out. Then Alvin cried that he was drowning, and Fred said that he would go with him if he went, and he jumped in and both went down in the muddy pool. The bodies were gotten out and taken to the undertakers, where they were prepared for burial, and not taken home until Sunday noon. The shock to the family was very great in its suddenness, and because two sturdy little lads should have gone to death from the same home while in complete health and in happy youthfulness. To the mother it was an especially great blow. She was removed to the home of Dr. J. Mather, and cared for by Mrs. Mather and other friends in this great grief that had come to her. All the people were deeply sympathetic and greatly stirred over this sorrowful circumstance. On Monday the funeral services were held in the L. D. S. chapel, Elder H. A. Stebbind preaching the sermon assisted by Elders Salyards and Briggs. There was a large concourse of people, every seat being occupied, and many tears were shed because of the heartfelt grief and sympathy. By popular subscription two beautiful caskets were provided and, in one wide grace the boys were laid to rest, not divided in life nor in death. Boys of about their age acted as bearers, and the departments of the public schools to which the boys belonged, accompanied by their teachers, were present at the services. They also went to the cemetery and deposited flowers in the grave. The day was beautiful in sunshine and warmth and many went out to the burial.
