He was born Feb. 21, 1910, in Tripp, S.D., the son of Emmanuel and Magdalena Herman Eisenbraun. He attended rural country school through eighth grade, then worked in a coal mine in Beulah, N.D., before returning to farm at the family homestead south of Tripp. He also attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in the late 1930s. Mr. Eisenbraun managed the Gambles Store in Tripp after leaving the family farming operation in 1934. He later served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Argonne during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Upon returning home, he worked in Gambles stores in Parkston and Scotland, S.D. He later worked in construction at the Fort Randall Dam in Pickstown, S.D., and sold Watkins products for several years. He became a Scotland police officer in 1960 and drove school buses for the Scotland schools for 17 years. After retirement, he continued to do carpentry and painting work in the Scotland area. He and his wife moved to Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, S.D., in December 2002. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Scotland, S.D., where he was a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and was church treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Scotland American Legion and the Scotland VFW. He married Bertha Goldhammer on Sept. 3, 1933. Other survivors include four sons, Dal Eisenbraun and wife Carol, Tucson, Ariz., Darrell Eisenbraun and wife Doreen, Chandler, Ariz., Dan Eisenbraun and wife Patti and Don Eisenbraun, all of Yankton, S.D.; two daughters, Diane Gross and husband Allen, Mayetta, and Deborah Raabe and husband Jerry, Volga, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. Funeral services were held April 21 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Scotland, S.D., with the Rev. David Ellis officiating. Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery at Scotland, with military rites by American Legion Post 155 and VFW Post 296.
