Read More	Buckeye Valley News, Nov 19,1981 AL HYATT DIES AT 82 Al Hyatt, who loved auctions, antiques and dealing with people, died last week at the age of 82. He and his wife, Helen, operated Al's Second Hand Store here for the past 26 years. Al died at Maryvale Hospital Nov. 10 after a rather long illness which he refused to allow to get the better of him. He remained active up until the past couple of months, but even then he kept the store going and still enjoyed bargaining with his customers. Alvin Isaiah Hyatt, son of William and Odella Hyatt, was born April 7, 1899, at Columbia City, Indiana. In 1907 he moved with his family to the Merna, Nebraska, area and spent his early childhood there. He married Ruth Brown on Jan 26, 1921. They had four sons and two daughters prior to her untimely death in 1939. Al was left alone to raise his young family. This he did with the older children helping the younger ones. He always remained justifiably proud of the job which he accomplished raising that family. They made their home around the Merna and Cozad, Nebraska area where Al did some farming. As his family grew and the children moved out on their own, Al decided to head for Arizona. He arrived in the Buckeye area in 1952 and went to work for El Paso Natural Gas. He also worked later in a furniture store here. On Nov 10, 1954, he married Helen Long. Together they started their second hand store attached to their home on Jackson Ave. Al took an active part in community life. Wherever there was an auction you would find him there prepared to bid. he enjoyed visiting with people and folks came to pick up on his habit of say, "That ' there" whenever he was describing something. He would get out his tuxedo and stove-pipe hat for Pioneer Days and join the crowd which gathered along the parade route. When people wanted some gadget which they couldn't find anywhere, Al often had it hidden amid piles of second hand items which he had acquired over the years. Often he came into the newspaper office to pass the time of day. More often than not talk would turn to his children while he would reflect about the days when he raised them alone. Survivors include his wife, Helen; four sons, Robert of Elbert, Colorado, Paul of Farnam, Nebraska, Charles of Boulder, Colorado, and Leslie of Moxee City, Washington; two daughters, Ruby Bartlett of Cozad, Nebraska, and Ethel White of Minden, Nebraska; two step-children, Odell Long of Cornville, Arizona, and Mary Fern Martin of Mountain View, Wyoming, along with their husbands and wives, a brother, Elvin of Hotchkiss, Colorado; 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a sister, a brother, a grandson and a granddaughter. Services were held Friday at the Free Methodist Church in Buckeye. Services were also held this past Monday in Cozad, Nebraska, prior to burial at the Cottonwood Cemetery there. Al's wife, Helen plans to continue the operation of the second hand store here. She once helped to operate her father's country store in Oklahoma. When Al died last Tuesday, Nov 10, it was the day of their 27th wedding anniversary
