Born in North River, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Veinot) Robar. He was a woodsman and worked for the Mersey Paper Company most of the time, until twelve years before he retired he worked for Turner's Mill, West Northfield. Read More	Alvin James Robar 1985 Bridgewater Bulletin Alvin James Robar, 76, of North River, Lunenburg County, died Saturday, April 20, 1985, in the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, he was the son of the late Howard and Mary (Veinot) Robar. He was a woodsman and worked for the Mersey Paper Company most of the time, until twelve years before he retired he worked for Turner's Mill, West Northfield. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. for thirty years and was a member of Lakeview Lodge, Springfield, until it closed. He then became a member of Pinegrove Lodge, New Germany. He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Acker; one daughter, Shirley Robar, North River; one son, Basil, New Germany; one sister, Verna Robar, North River; two brothers, Maurice, North River and Oscar, Watford; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Ada; and two infant sisters. Funeral service was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Monday, April 22, 1985, Pastor Richard Weaver officiated with interment in the church cemetery. Hymns sung were "Amazing Grace," "Beautiful Saviour," and "Now Thank We All Our God,''with organist David Zwicker. Pallbearers were Charles Jodrey, Lemuel Lohnes, Ronald McQuarrie, Cyril Acker, Bruce Veinot, and Kerry Whynot. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
