He was born May 25, 1911, in Fay, Okla., to George and Lizzie (Moser) Bauer. He grew up in Oklahoma, and then lived in Lincoln. He married Minnie B. Barker on Nov. 26, 1932, in Maryville, Mo. He was born May 25, 1911, in Fay, Okla., to George and Lizzie (Moser) Bauer. He grew up in Oklahoma, and then lived in Lincoln. He married Minnie B. Barker on Nov. 26, 1932, in Maryville, Mo. He moved to Villisca, Iowa, where he farmed and the couple raised their four children. He moved to Wahoo and worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead during World War II. He later moved to Valley where he worked at a cattle feeding operation, where the Pines Golf Course is now. In 1953, he moved to Blair and worked for Kelly Ryan Equipment Co. Alvin and Minnie built their home in Blair and lived there until her death on July 23, 2000. Alvin moved to Fremont in 2001 to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blair. Survivors include: a son, Larry (and wife, Betty) Bauer of Fremont; a daughter, Linda (and husband, Paul) Thanasides of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Marie Lacox of Villisca, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Norman Bauer; a daughter, Barbara Ellis; two brothers, Edward and Paul Bauer; and a grandchild. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Tom Shaw of Church of the Nazarene officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
