Siebels died Sunday morning while on duty at a Naval Base in San Diego, Calif. Cause of the very sudden death is thought to have been a heart attack. A Navy veteran of 11 years, he and his family made their home in Palm City, Calif., a few miles from San Diego. Born April 17, 1921, he was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Siebels of Monticello. He attended the Monticello schools and enlisted in the Navy in January of 1940. He is a veteran of World War II and continued to serve until his death. He was united in marriage to Carol Hansen of Betrame, Minn., and they became the parents of one son, Alvin Jr., one and a half years old. The body will arrive in Cedar Rapids Saturday morning, following the arrival of Mrs. Siebels who will be here tomorrow. Funeral services will be held at the Goettsch Funeral home and to the St. Matthew's Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. H.L. Adix will have charge of the burial. Pallbears will include Edwin Hemmer, George Richardson, Irvin Husman, Robert Siebels, Gene Barnis and Laverne Eiler. Interment will be made in the Oakwood cemetery. Alvin Siebels is survived by his wife Carol, son Alvin Jr., two sisters, Bernice, Mrs. Henry Harms of Monticello, and Clarice, Mrs. Faye Haeussler also of Monticello, his parents and two brothers also survive. Carl and Donald, both of Monticello, and four nieces and two nephews besides many other relatives and friends.
