Description	:	Alvin Matthew Grubaugh was born 13 Feb 1922 in Rising City, NE to Floyd Leroy "Roy" Grubaugh and Anna Marie Wilhelmina Havel. He was an identical twin to his brother, Marvin. Both Alvin and Marvin were exceptional football players at the Univ. of Nebraska and Alvin was actually drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1944. He did not make the roster, however. Grubaugh Jazwick (b.1955) Gregg Alvin Grubaugh (b.1957) Alvin initially worked as the Butler County Sheriff, but resigned in 1948 to enter the banking business. He eventually became President of the Columbus Federal Land Bank. He died in Columbus, NE in 1984. Here is his obituary: Columbus Telegram, Thrusday, July 5, 1984 Columbus - Alvin Grubaugh, 62, Columbus, president of the Columbus Federal Land Bank Association, died Saturday, June 30, 1984 at Columbus Community Hospital. Services were held at 10 am Tuesday at St. Bonaventure Church, with Rev. Russ Monzu, Rev. Robert Roh and Monsignor A. J. Lisko officiating. Burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, with military honors by Hartman Post 84 of the American Legion. Casket bearers were Ron Horst, Mark Sutko, Rick Grubaugh, George Hermone, Jerry Peterson, Randy Peterson, Dan Peterson, and Ray Schulze. Visitation was from 2-5 pm Monday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus; after 6 pm at the church; and Tuesday morning until service time at the funeral home. A rosary was said at 7 pm by the Knights of Columbus. A parish scripture service was held at 7:30 pm Monday at the church. Mr. Grubaugh was born Feb. 13, 1922 in Rising City, the son of Roy and Anna Havel Grubaugh. He graduated from Rising City High School in 1940, then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. He played football at both universities. He married Bess L. Taddiken on April 12, 1947 in David City, and lived in David City until 1968 when he moved to Columbus. Mr. Grubaugh started at Columbus Federal Land Bank Association in July 1948 and later served as president. Mr. Grubaugh seved in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was discharged with the rank of captain. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, the Chamber of Commerce, Hartman Post 84 of the American Legion, the Shamrock Club, the David City Volunteer Firemen, the Columbus Board of Realtors and a former member of the Jaycees. He was also past president of the Federation of Land Bank Association, was a member of Elks; the board of trustees for the Columbus Family Y; and served on the Nebraska Co-op Council for Public Relations. He was also a former Butler County Sheriff. Mr. Grubaugh was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Sruviving are his wife, Bess; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Pamela) McCawley of Papillion and Mrs. Paul (Brenda) Jazwick of Columbus; two sons, Tracy Grubaugh of Lincoln and Gregg A. Grubaugh of David City; one sister, Mrs. Oz (Marie) Goerlinger of Anaheim, CA; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin brother, Marvin J. Grubaugh.
