Alvin or "Pop," as he was known to his grandchildren, was born in Oklahoma, November 28, 1918. After spending time serving his country in World War II, he relocated to California and met his wife Elsie. They were married 41 years and spent most it residing in Fremont, CA. After Alvin retired from Pacific State Steel in Union City, he raised Quarter horses at his 3.5 acre ranch in Fremont. After Elsie's passing in 1991. Alvin moved to the central valley to be closer to his grandchildren. Pop will be remembered for many things, his cowboy hat and boots that he always wore, sometimes even with his pajamas. The Purple Pigs that he put out and collected in his younger years for the Elks Lodge #2121, that he has been a member of for 49 years. His love for playing dominoes, pinochle and poker with whoever would sit down with him and his passion for horses. Pop is survived by his son Alvin Leroy Eaton and wife Marlene, their daughter and two granddaughters all from Kansas; his granddaughter Brenda North and her son Jeremiah of Ripon, CA; his granddaughter Ronna Spaan and husband Paul of Fremont, CA along with their daughter Sheilli Baldi and husband Thomas and their two sons, Jackson and Mason all from Mountain House, CA; his granddaughter Dolores Hernandez and husband George, their two sons Jerrod and Brandon all from Manteca, CA; his grandsons Allen Bruno and wife Linda of Oakley, CA; and David Chaves and son Davin of Florida; his grandson Philip Davenport proceeded him in death but left three children, Nicole, Justin and Alicia all from Concord, CA. Alvin is also survived by two sisters and their families, La Willa Thomas of Florida and Flor Mae Martell of Richmond, CA. Alvin was also preceded in death by his wife Elsie, two daughters, Patricia and Theresa along with three brothers and two sisters. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, Monday, May 19th at 12:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m., held at Berge-Pappas-Smith Chapel of the Angels, 40842 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA.
