The deceased man is Alvin R. Evans, 42, of Sioux City, who had been in ill health since 1946. He was a cousin of Mrs. Pearl Dugan and Willis Jones. Rev. Rudolph Rojahn officiated at the services here, while Rev. Russel Rodgers conducted services, which were held at Sioux City. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Coleridge American Legion post at the Coleridge cemetery. Alvin R., son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Evans, was born August 12, 1914 at Niobrara. He lived at Niobrara until 1920, when he moved to Randolph where he made his home until 1941. In 1942 he went to Tacoma, Washington where he entered the Army Air Force. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Blanche Evans of Sioux City with whom he made his home since leaving the service in 1945; one sister, Mrs. Valda Soule of Sioux City; two brothers, Merle A. of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Robert J. of Sioux City; and nine nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father in 1920, and a brother, Frances, in 1935. Pallbearers were Lawrence Gaer of Oakland, Iowa, Everett Roberts, Morris Roberts and Fay Comstock of Sioux City, Glen Evans and Lloyd Schindlan of Hartington. Out of town persons here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tuttle and children of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Gaer of Kirkman, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gaer and son of Oakland, Iowa. NOTE: Transcribed from unknown newspaper article. Birth year was changed from 1912 to 1914 due to an error by the newspaper and "had been in ill health since 1946" was a guess due to it being almost unreadable. It looks like it could be 1944 or 1946.
