Mr. Ahlman died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1992, at his home. According to the Madison County Attorney, Joseph Smith, the death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mr. Ahlman was born Oct. 28, 1919, at Hadar to the late Albert S. and Louise (Geske) Ahlman. He was baptized in 1919 at Hadar and confirmed in 1933 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He graduated from Christ Lutheran School and was a 1938 graduate of Norfolk High School. He married Lois Mary Boelling on Aug. 26, 1941, at Zion Lutheran Church, Hoskins. They observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1991. Mr. Ahlman was a veteran of World War II in which he served with the U.S. Army from August 1941 to November 1945 and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was owner-operator of an ice cream-sandwich shop from 1947 - 1959, then was employed in the Coast-to-Coast store from 1950 to 1953. He served as Norfolk City Clerk from 1953 to 1957, then was city clerk-treasurer until 1979. After that he was with the City of Norfolk Water Billing Department until retiring in 1981. He was active in Christ Lutheran Church, where he had served as an elder, trustee, on the finance and auditing committees. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, travel and his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Lois, one daughter and one son and their spouses, Dennis and Virginia Ann Martin of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mark and Darcy Ahlman of Lincoln, four grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Joe (Evelyn) Cozzolino of Santa Rosa, Calif., Mrs. John (Jean) Werner of Battle Creek and Charles N. Ahlman of Norfolk. He was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy and his parents. all spelling and punctuation as it appeared in the paper (GH)
