Tony was born December 24, 1920 on the family farm five miles south of Wilcox, NE. in Franklin County, NE., the fourth of seven children of Ehme and Ollie (Schmidt) Harms. Tony was born December 24, 1920 on the family farm five miles south of Wilcox, NE. in Franklin County, NE., the fourth of seven children of Ehme and Ollie (Schmidt) Harms. Tony received his education from the Sunny Plains Rural School District #75 in Harlan County, Nebraska. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hildreth, Nebraska. Tpny grew up on a farm south of Wilcox. He was employed by Albert Frisell and other area farmers prior to farming and owning his own land. On November 29, 1944 he was united in marriage to Virginia Rose Murphy and to this union two sons and one daughter was born: Virgil, Betsy and Richard. The couple made their home north of Ragan, Nebraska, where he continued to farm and enjoyed his passion of caring for livestock. Tony and Virginia attended the Bethel Lutheran Church. Tony is survived by his wife, Virginia Harms of Holdrege, NE.; sons: Virgil Harms and his wife, Pat of Blue Springs, NE. and Rick Harms and his wife, Lynne of Omaha, NE.; daughter, Betsy Bendorf and her husband, Ken of Holdrege, NE.; grandchildren: Susan Ruff and her husband, Jim of Gretna, NE., Cindi Dubas and her husband, Mike of York, NE., Crystal Oberg and her husband, Tom of Farnam, NE., Kyle Bendorf and his wife, Sherry of Clearwater, FL., Beth Wagner and her husband, Paul of Papillion, NE. and Kirk Harms of Kearney, NE.; great-grandchildren; sister, Dora Mae Sundquist and her husband, Leroy of Holdrege, NE.; sisters-in-law: Louise Harms and Mary Jo Harms both of Wilcox, NE. and Evelyn Harms of Holdrege, NE. and Gracia Harms of Waverly, IA. and a host of relatives and friends. Tony was preceded in death by: parents; brothers: Albert, William, Raymond and Emil Harms; sister, Dorothy Woollen and her husband, William. Burial was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE.
