Lethbridge Herald February 28, 1949 RAYMOND - Funeral services for the late Alvin W. Jones were held Wednesday in Raymond in the L.D.S. chapel directed by Bishop Rulon Dahl of the third ward. Music supplied by the choir of that ward was directed by Aziel Stevenson assisted at the organ by Mrs. Maybell Anderson. Joseph Mclean sang a solo, Mrs. Ida Wood and company of Taber rendered a vocal trio and a male quartette by Frank R. Taylor and company was heard. High tribute was apparent in the numerous floral tributes and the large crowd attending the services filled the hall to overcapacity, many from out of town. Wm. Harding, Hading school superintendent of Taber was the first of four speakers to pay tribute to Mrs. Jones and his family. Bishop Wood of Taber was next speaker and dwelt briefly regarding a life after death and a reunion of deceased with his wife and family. President Walker of Raymond, who had been the Bishop in the ward in which Jones and Holt families had lived for many years, spoke of his long acquaintance with these two pioneer families. President Walker said the late Mr. Jones had been a pioneer in this land having born in a wagon on the way to Canada from Utah in the early days of the settlement of these towns. he had been influential in many civic affairs, and projects such as the cheese factory, the Raymond Municipal hospital, and political and local civic activities. He had been a baker for many years with his father, as well as operating he own bakery, also the butchering business and retail shop. Bishop D. Miller of Taber was the last speaker and gave praise also to the late Mr. Jones, and of his friendliness toward all. At the close of the services Bishop Dahl thanked all on behalf of the family who had assisted business cars or at the house and those who sent flowers, and for the music supplied and those who spoke. Opening prayer was offered by President L. L. Palmer, and benediction by James S. Anderson. Pallbearers were Raymond friends, Alma E. Hancock, Harold Fairbanks, Arthur Gardner, Harold Garner, Joseph Thompson and Wm. A Anderson. Interment was in the Temple Hill Cemetery at Raymond. Mr. Jones leave his wife Leah; three sons, Blayne, Dale and Richard: two daughters, Irs and Natalle, all of Taber.
