DYER Alvis Weslake Dyer, son of Aaron and Permelia Dyer, was born in Illinois on June 3, 1861, and passed away March 30, 1942, in Russell, Ia., at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 27 days. When a small child he came with his parents to Wayne county, Iowa, where they settled on a farm. He was married on October 8, 1882, to Anna Hepenstall. To this union was born a son, Aaron W. Dyer on August 3, 1883, who died August 20, 1900. Lyle Evan Baker went to live with them in the fall of 1911 and was legally adopted Nov. 2, 1914. Mr. Dyer was converted early in life and united with the Trinity Evangelical church where his membership was held the remainder of his life. Mrs. Dyer passed away Aug. 20. 1929, and he was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. There remains to mourn his departure the adopted son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Baker, who had tenderly cared for him in his declining years, six grandchildren, in whom he took much pleasure, Anna Mae, Mary Lee, Ida Lou, Norma Jean, Robert Lyle and Beverly June Baker, also a brother, Wright Dyer, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Dyer was a well known and respected citizen in the community where he had lived for so many years and will be sincerely mourned by loved ones and friends. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Archie Beals, of Russell, were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday at the Beardsley funeral home here, and burial was in New York cemetery in Wayne county.
