Description	:	Alwyn J. "Danny" Marson, of Geneva, died at the Vets Medical Center in Grand Island on Friday, July 23, 1993, at the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 8 days. He was one of seven children in the family. He was born to George N. Marson and Agnes (Kroenke) Marson on November 15, 1920, at Shickley. "Danny" Marson, of Geneva, died at the Vets Medical Center in Grand Island on Friday, July 23, 1993, at the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 8 days. He was one of seven children in the family. He was born to George N. Marson and Agnes (Kroenke) Marson on November 15, 1920, at Shickley. He lived in Geneva for his entire life, except for the last two years, when he was in the Nebraska Veteran's Home in Grand Island due to his extended illness. Most of his adult life was spent farming and working for the City of Geneva. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and also of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Post No. 7102. Marson served in the Army from July 26, 1942 until December 22, 1945. He held the rank of Sergeant and served overseas for 17 months with the 417th motor ambulance Corps in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland and Germany. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon with four battle stars; the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Medal of Honor. He was preceded in death by his parents, George N. and Agnes Marson. He is survived by one brother, George H. Marson of Canoga Park, Ca.; five sisters, Marguerite "Peg" Burklund of Lincoln, Mildred Frazer of Modesto, Ca., Regina Friedman of Las Vegas, Nv., Jo Ann Marson of Ventura, Ca., and Patricia Fries of Canoga Park, Ca.; 14 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-nephews. Funeral services were conducted from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Geneva on Tuesday, July 27, with Father William Grant officiating. Carol Prater accompanied the St. Joseph's Women's Choir, who sang "The Strife is Over," "Oh Paradise" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Jeffrey Nun, James Nun, Jared Nun, Rod Hinrichs, Ed Hinrichs Jr. and Fredrick A. Nunns. Burial was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal July 1993.
