Description	:	Funeral services for Grace Nelsen, 96, of Creighton were held Saturday, Feb 27, 1999 at the United Methodist Church in Creighton. Reverend Ken Purscell officiated the 2 p.m. service with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Serving as pallbearers were Orville Hansen, Robert Morrill, Russell Sorensen, Bruce Jorgensen, Dale Nielsen and Bill Stokes. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Ehrenberg, Merle Milne, Melvin Neumann, Perry Lichty, Carol Morrill, Arnold Schmidt and Bill Veenker. Alyce Grace Nelsen, youngest daughter of Robert and Anna Belle McDonald Carpenter, was born at Millerboro in Antelope County southwest of Creighton on December 27, 1902. She received her early education at the Millerboro School. Later she graduated from the Creighton High School with the class of 1920. She taught several years in the Bazile Mills area. She was united in marriage on January 27, 1925 to N. Chris Nelsen by Reverend Frank Farner, the Methodist pastor in Creighton. To this union two sons were born, Robert and Francis. They lived southwest of Creighton for 42 years on the farm homesteaded by her father in 1892 before moving into Creighton in 1967. After her husband's death, she resided at the Creighton Care Centre the past five years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1919, first at Millerboro, then transferring into Creighton in 1931. She was a charter member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Millboro Ladies Aid for many years. She passed away at the Creighton Care Centre on Monday, Feb. 22, 1999 at the age of 96. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Meldean and Francis and Rosalie of rural Creighton; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ann Wiles of Kearney and Vera Besser and husband, Richard of Clearwater Beach, FL and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris in 1994; her parents; a sister, Bertha Prill; a foster brother, Joseph Carpenter and an infant sister.
