She was born December 14, 1921 in Sioux Falls, the daughter of immigrants from Norway, Henry and Carrie (Skot) Sorenson. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1939. Scott, 96 of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Bethany Home in Sioux Falls. She was born December 14, 1921 in Sioux Falls, the daughter of immigrants from Norway, Henry and Carrie (Skot) Sorenson. She graduated from Lyons High School in 1939. Her early jobs included being a nanny in Washington state and employee at Western Security bank downtown Sioux Falls. During World War II, she worked at the Airbase in Sioux Falls. She married Lowell Scott on March 29, 1951 in Crooks, SD. They farmed near Garretson. Then, owned and operated Scotts Champlin in Hartford, while she simultaneously worked full-time in nursing home care, retail and dietary. She worked well into her 70s, including work as a Senior Companion. All through her life, she had an inherent respect for everyone she met and sincere empathy for people, no matter their circumstance or stature. God loves his children equally. In the later years, she greatly appreciated her caregivers; She had great compassion for them in their efforts, loving many dearly. Her undying faith in our Lord carried her. Her independent spirit and sharp mind fueled her. Her sense of humor lightened her burdens, which included having a frustrated body that would not give up. She had an iron-clad memory which helped her to love her family far extending generations, to each niece and nephew. She was incredibly pleased with her grandchildren but, never a boastful person. Humility was dominant trait within her. She was a good support to many friends and a mother who sacrificed for her kids. She truly was the #1 Mn Twins fan and spectator of sports. She is survived by her children, Doug (Peggy) Scott, Appleton, WI, Dean (Peggy) Scott, Adel, IA, Patricia Scott, Eden Prairie, MN, Susan (Ron) Schwanke, South Haven, MN, Kathy Scott, Sioux Falls, Becky (Bob) Chihak, Rapid City, and Jayne (Jim) Ruhland, Mitchell; seven grandchildren, Will, Ben, Ellen, Baylee, Patrick, Erin and Loren; 3 great grandchildren, Opal, Dylan and Debra; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Roger)Reiff and Beverly Remme; several nieces & nephews, and dear friends Joyce Reiners, Shirley Darnell and Debbie Eggers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, a son Mike Scott, her parents, a sister Gladys Langloss, an infant brother, Selmer and her niece Donna Koopman. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
